Video performance involves recording a student's performance as evidence of their work or for feedback. It:
- can be assessed by the student, peers and/or educators against an exemplar model or a given set of criteria
- supports effective self-reflection and helps students to set personal learning tasks for improvement
- can be adapted where students create an audio file to rehearse for an oral presentation.

How to use with ICT
Any device with a camera and microphone can be used to record student performances. Most devices support simple editing functions. Students can watch themselves and self-evaluate against set criteria. With student permission, a class could watch and evaluate a performance against criteria.
Use PowerPoint or Slides and label each slide with a student’s name. The teacher uses the insert audio in PowerPoint to record each student’s presentation against their labelled slide. For slides, a teacher will have to record student voice using a chrome add-on, save it and then embed the link in each slide. With student permission the class can evaluate the presentation against the criteria pasted onto each slide. In addition, the teacher can type responses onto the student’s slide creating a comprehensive evaluation of each presentation.

When planning to use technology in the classroom it is important to consider the full range of abilities of all learners. High potential and gifted learners may require additional adjustments and deliberate talent development. These strategies include differentiation, grouping, enrichment and advanced learning pathways so students can be engaged, grow and achieve their personal best.
Assessing and identifying high potential and gifted learners will help teachers decide which students may benefit from extension and additional challenge. Effective strategies and contributors to achievement for high potential and gifted learners helps teachers to identify and target areas for growth and improvement.
