A pre-flight checklist is a list of the required, basic components for an assignment. This assists students to peer assess one another. The pre-flight checklist differs from a rubric in that it is used primarily to check that all the required components are present, whereas a rubric is more likely to get into the quality of those components. Whether a checklist or rubric is used, peers should be taught to provide accurate feedback.

How to use with ICT
Use online forms as the checklist – each student using the form identifies the work they are checking and answer simple questions. The form templates below allow only the teacher to access the responses and distribute the feedback as they see fit. Alternatively, most text editor software includes the ability to highlight and comment. Both Microsoft Word and Google Docs allow documents to be shared with comment-only permission. Provide students with the pre-flight checklist and have them share their work with each other.

High potential and gifted learning and support
When planning to use technology in the classroom it is important to consider the full range of abilities of all learners. High potential and gifted learners may require additional adjustments and deliberate talent development. These strategies include differentiation, grouping, enrichment and advanced learning pathways so students can be engaged, grow and achieve their personal best.
Assessing and identifying high potential and gifted learners will help teachers decide which students may benefit from extension and additional challenge. Effective strategies and contributors to achievement for high potential and gifted learners helps teachers to identify and target areas for growth and improvement.
