Getting Evidence Moving in Schools (GEMS)

Research Report

Belinda Parker

This report presents findings from a research investigation for the Getting Evidence Moving in Schools (GEMS) Project — a three-year project led by Evidence for Learning (E4L) that aims to improve both how research is used in schools and how schools’ use of evidence is researched. The research explores how schools mobilise literacy and numeracy research through professional learning providers. With a focus on Australian primary schools, the research examines what factors help and hinder schools in accessing and implementing rigorous research evidence. The Research Framework for Project GEMS was prepared by the Faculty of Education at Monash University. E4L commissioned the Centre for Evidence and Implementation (CEI) to operationalise and implement this framework to derive insights for evidence mobilisation in schools.
