The project described in this paper targeted school resources strategically focused on achieving intended outcomes- improvements in student reading and writing. We used the vehicle of quality texts to engage students and foster a love of literature, drawing children in, providing ongoing feedback and engaging in deep reflection which persuaded them to keep on reading and writing. In doing so, we all moved forward in our learning. Teachers learned how to hone their craft of teaching subject English, in a supportive classroom environment, with external support. Students learned, through teacher modelling, guiding and independent practice, how to be better readers and writers that they will continue to build on into the future
