Entry requirements: Entries will only be accepted from Meet Manager. Entries emailed from Meet Manager are to be sent to the convenor by 26th February 2021. The WSSA shell will be sent to district secretaries Week 1 of Term 1, 2021. Times must be included for each nomination to enable heats to be seeded. Swimmers without times will be placed in the slowest heat.

*Officials must report to the Convenor by 9:00am at the latest.

*Competitors should aim to be at the venue by 8:30am.

*Warm-Up from 7:30am.

*First marshalling call at 9:15 am.

*Heats of Trials will commence at 9:30am.

 

Programs$3.00 (inc GST). Programs will be provided for sale and will detail the students’ name and lane number in seeded heats.

 

Due to COVID-19 restrictions and the Dubbo Aquatic Leisure Centre number cap. ONE PARENT/CAREGIVER only per FAMILY will be able to attend. Please note that this is NOT one parent/caregiver per competitor. 

Competitors will be required to leave the venue immediately after completing events to ensure we remain under the cap.

Parents/caregivers/spectators/coaches are encouraged to utilise the Meet Manager app to obtain results.

 

Authority to Publish

Meet Manager Mobile will be used at the WSSA carnival. Names of students who do NOT have authority to publish must be communicated to the convener with the submission of entries.

 

Multi-class Competitors

Please note that para-athlete swimmers must attend these trials to be selected for Western SSA representation. Information and entry form is attached. Entry time will be taken on the day. Multi-Class Athletes are required to have a classification prior to competition and must be on the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Swimming Classification Master List (http://www.paralympic.org/swimming/classifiswimawd.docM:\PSSA\SPORTS\WEBSITE\SWIMMING\SWIMAWD.DOCcation)

 

IMPORTANT: Athletes who fail to meet this requirement will be ineligible to compete at the NSWPSSA Swimming Championships.

 

Officials

Relief will be paid from Western School Sport at the DoE Casual Primary rate and paid directly to your school account. Please indicate if relief is required. The application for an Official Position can be downloaded from the link at the bottom of the page. Due to the number of officials required to operate electronic timing each District is required to supply at least ONE official for the day.

 

District Team Managers

Each district must have a team manager. Relief is NOT available for District team managers.

 

Competitors 

Please note that these are Trials for selection of an Area Team, NOT a carnival with point scores. All events are timed finals and place ribbons will be issued to competitors with the fastest 3 times. All competitors who enter these trials are available for WSSA selection. Students who are not available to represent Western SSA at the State PSSA Carnival should NOT attend this trial. Children selected in the WSSA team are responsible for their own travel and accommodation arrangements in Sydney.

 

Limitations 

Any competitor may enter any number of individual events. No competitor may compete in more than one division, excepting all age events.   Maximum entry for the districts is two competitors except for Bathurst, Orange, Lachlan, Cowra, Dubbo & Cudgegong who have a maximum of three swimmers.

 

Age Divisions

  • Age divisions are based on the age the student will be as at the 31st December 2021 i.e. the age they turn in 2021.

Individual 50 metre freestyle events.

  • 8 years, 9 years, 10 years, 11 years, 12 years, 13 years

 

Form Stroke 50 metre events.

  • Junior: 8 years, 9 years, 10 years.
  • 11 years,
  • Senior: 12/13 years

 

All age events

  • 100 metres freestyle. (8 years to 13 years)

 

Medley Events

  • Senior 4 x 50 metres Individual Medley (11-13 years).
  • Junior 4 x 50 metres Individual Medley (8-10 years).

 

A competitor whose birthday occurs during the current year is eligible for that age event only. No competitor shall compete in more than one division except for all age events.

 

 Relays: Junior - 8 years, 9 years, 10 years. Senior - 11 years, 12 years, 13 years.

 

The Earl MaGee Trophy

The Small Schools Relay team must include students from schools with a total school enrolment not exceeding twenty five (25). The combination of boys and girls to form is the schools responsibility. ALL children in the team must be enrolled at the same school.

 

The Peter Dobson Trophy

The Peter Dobson Relay must include students from schools with a total school enrolment of more than twenty five (25) pupils but not exceeding fifty four (54) pupils. The combination of boys and girls in each team to be decided by the individual school but all the children must be enrolled in the same school.

 

Qualifying Times

There are no qualifying times for the carnival. Please use your discretion with medley events. Selected swimmers should be competitive at this level.         

 

WSSA team

1st, 2nd and 3rd placegetters (individual events and relays) will be included in the Western Team.

State carnival venue and dates: Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre, 31st March and 1st April 2021.

 

Safe Water Entry for Competitions- Competitive Dive Starts

 

The new Safe Diving Guidelines will be released and in circulation for the commencement of Term 1 2021 and therefore in play for the swimming carnival/championship season in school sport. This compliance resource will be updated in the Sport Safety Guidelines and used within the community via the Guidelines for Safe Pool Operations.

 

The modules contained in the presentation address diving generally, regardless of water depth, along with the specifics around competitive dive starts in shallow water, so as to prevent incidents and accidents with diving.
