4.11 Golf

4.11.1 Golf Stroke Play State Championships - boys/girls

4.11.1
The NSW All Schools Golf Stroke Play Championship are incorporated into the NSWCHSSA Golf Stroke Play Championships and include separate medal recognitions.
Note: The NSWCHSSA and NSW All Schools Golf Stroke Play Championships will occur on the Monday – Wednesday with NSW All Schools Selection Trials Play-Offs to occur on Thursday.

(a) Rules

(i) Open to all associations to enter a team of four boys and/or four girls of any handicap.

4.11.1.(a) (ii)

(ii) The events will be:
54 Holes stroke (team event and individual championship) over three (3) days (Monday to Wednesday) – 18 holes each day. Best three scores of each association team to count each day. Best two scores of each association girls team to count each day. Final day – 18 holes stroke play with a seeded draw. Championship Trophies to be awarded:
• Champion association: Boys and Girls;
• Best Stroke Score – 54 holes: Boys and Girls;
• Best Nett Score – 54 holes: Boys and Girls.
• Tony Stair Shield – a competition between NSWCHSSA / NSWCCC / NSWCIS players in teams of 6 boys and 6 girls

(iii) The host association may enter two teams of boys and/or girls if numbers in that association permit.

(iv) The state convener is empowered to select players not in teams for the NSWCHSSA State Golf Championships and NSW All Schools selection trials; for selection purposes only.

(v) The draw at 10 minute intervals to be organized by the state convener so that where possible 1 boy and 1 girl from two associations constitute a group of four. Separate draws for each of the three days. Two tees to be used for the start of play each day and a shot gun start where possible to be organised for the final day to allow for an early presentation and departure of teams.

4.11.1 (a) (vi)
Each association to pay an entry fee to cover the operating costs of the championships and All Schools Play-offs (18 holes – Thursday), including the ball competitions and other encouragement awards.

(vii) Correct dress and behaviour is essential on the course and in the precincts of the club house.

(viii) Practice on the course proper is not permitted during any day of the championship.

(ix) All reasonable directions by host club and NSWCHSSA/NSWCCC/NSWCIS officials must be adhered to.

(x) No advice or caddies will be permitted.

(xi) Disputes committee to be comprised of:

  • NSWCHSSA Golf Convener
  • Championship manager,
  • Association convener or delegate.

 (xii) All teams to be attired in association golf uniform for the official presentation on the Wednesday afternoon. Players to sit together as a team.

4.11.2 NSW All Schools Golf team selections

(a) The selection panels for boys and girls to consist of:

  • NSWCHSSA Golf Convener
  • NSW All Schools Boys Team Manager
  • NSW All Schools Girls Team Manager
  • NSWCCC Golf Convener (or delegate)
  • NSWCIS Golf Convener (or delegate)

OR representatives of the above.

All positions to be ratified at the pre championship meeting.

4.11.2 (b)
(b) Annual selection events:
• NSWCHSSA State Championship and All Schools Selection Trials. Comprising the NSWCHSSA and All Schools Stroke Play Championships 54 holes Stroke Play (Monday to Wednesday) which is the qualifying for the NSW All Schools Selection Trials Play-Offs (18 holes - Thursday).
• All Schools Selection Trials Play-Offs. Top qualifying 16 males and females from NSWCHSSA / All Schools Stroke Play Championships (54 holes Stroke Play – Monday to Wednesday) will be invited to participate in the NSW All Schools Selection Trials Play-Offs (18 holes - Thursday).
The final 16 is determined by countbacks in the event of equal positioning at the end of 54 holes. Qualifiers trial for positions in the six (6) person NSW All Schools Team to contest the School Sport Australia Golf Championships.
If a student is unavailable to contest the Thursday trials the next highest ranked player will be offered a position in the play-offs. The final six (6) boys and six (6) girls will be determined by the discretion of the NSW All Schools Selection Committee.

 

4.11.2 (c)
(c) To be eligible for selection in the NSW All Schools team a player must not turn 19 in the year of competition and have competed in the NSWCHSSA/All Schools Stroke Play Championships (54 holes Stroke Play – Monday to Wednesday) AND NSW All Schools Selection Trials Play-Offs. (18 holes - Thursday).# A player may only be considered for selection outside of these criteria in exceptional circumstances as approved at the discretion of the NSW All Schools selection panel.

(d) While no winner of any event can be regarded as being an automatic selection, the selectors should look closely at performances in the NSWCHSSA State Championship and All Schools Selection Trials and All Schools Selection Trials Match Play Play-Offs.

(e) To be eligible for selection in the NSW All Schools team a player must not turn 19 in the year of competition and have competed in the NSWCHSSA/All Schools Stroke Play Championships (54 holes Stroke Play – Monday to Wednesday) AND NSW All Schools Selection Trials Play-Offs. (18 holes - Thursday).# A player may only be considered for selection outside of these criteria in exceptional circumstances as approved at the discretion of the NSW All Schools selection panel.
