The School Sport Unit and the Premier’s Sporting Challenge are actively supporting RunWest and its Schools Community Fundraiser (PDF 2790KB). The 4km / 12km fun runs scheduled for Sunday 31 March 2019 will see 30% of all registration fees by students, teachers, parents, community members donated back to the nominated school. The RunWest Schools Community Fundraiser is an initiative that looks to foster positive health, wellbeing and physical activity within primary, secondary and specialist schools throughout NSW. The initiative’s focal point is the RunWest Festival, whereby schools are encouraged to, and rewarded for getting as many individuals physically active. All public schools in NSW have been registered on the RunWest platform with Athletics Australia and the RunWest team and individual can now go online at http://www.runthewest.com.au/ and register. Run Fit programAll RunWest fundraising schools are also eligible to register for a free six-week Run Fit program leading into the event, with the option of it being delivered by Athletics Australia Accredited Coaches at your school. Spots are limited so get in fast! Schools also have the opportunity to receive a version of the Program and delivery it internally by staff/ teachers. Run Fit is a fun and engaging program that focuses on exercise by stealth, fun and games and educating the students on the importance of exercise and staying active. It is structured over a 6 week period, with a 1 hour session per week taking students and children through the pre-developed session plans.
