Welcome back to 2021.

We are happy to advise that all aspects of the Representative School Sport Pathway including State Championships recommenced from Term 1, 2021.

Weekly inter-school competitions, knock-out competitions and gala days may also recommence.

Schools should regularly check for updated information on the Department’s Guide for School activities (updated 5 March 2021).

Due to COVID-19, ensuring the health, safety and wellbeing of all officials, spectators and participants at NSW Department of Education sporting events is paramount. When external venues are used, event organisers will work closely with venue management to ensure that the required COVID safety protocols are put in place. COVID safety planning will require event organisers to make decisions related to local context and the requirements of each venue and event. Some of these decisions may include applying spectator limits and staggering participation times. The understanding and cooperation of all school communities will be crucial in ensuring the safe and smooth running of these events in 2021.

Note: The new Safe Water Entry for Competitions-Competitive Dive Starts have been released. These guidelines are required to be implemented for the commencement of Term 1, 2021 and therefore are in play for the swimming carnival/championship season in school sport.  This compliance resource is available in the Sport Safety Guidelines
