School Sport Unit

The School Sport Unit is committed to encouraging, promoting and engendering physical activity and sport opportunities for schools teachers and students. Earlier this Term, we trialled livestreaming of the NSWPSSA / NSWCHS State Cross Country Championships. Lessons learnt from this event will hopefully see further events shown this year - stay tuned to the School Sport Unit Facebook page for updates.

Could I again, thank school sport organisers for the multitude of tasks you perform weekly to ensure your school and students participate in sport and physical activity and access the various programs available both internal and external to the Department.

Dave Haggart, Kogarah HS Dave’s teaching career began at East Hills Girls’ High School in 1996. From there, he has made outstanding contributions to The Jannali High School, Strathfield Girls’ High School, South Sydney High School and Kogarah High School, where he is currently the Deputy Principal. > Read more

The Representative School Sport Pathway and Starting Age Groups

The School Sport Unit has recently been asked by a variety of school sport stakeholders as to why the NSWPSSA does not allow students younger than 8 years old to participate in the representative school sport pathway of Athletics, Cross Country and Swimming.    > Read more

The School Sport Unit has recently established a statewide network to provide assistance for teachers, parents and students regarding sport participation for students with a disability. > Read more
