Manager's Message
The March 2019 eNewsletter provides a variety of opportunities and resources available to students, teachers and schools across School Sport Unit programs held throughout NSW. Don't miss out on registering / applying by the due dates shown - special reminder about the closing date for the 2019 Premier's Sporting Challenge - don't miss out on your school grant.
Special thank you to school sport organisers and the many dedicated teachers involved in their local school swimming championships - the NSWCHS and NSWPSSA State Swimming Championships will be held in week 11 and couldn't occur without your efforts at the school level.
The eNewsletter also highlights the revise 'School Uniform Policy' and how it interacts with school sport and physical activity in the school setting. Could I also remind all teachers planning sport and physical activity at school level to consult the Sport Safety Guidelines to ensure all safety measures are being observed.

Thinking while Moving in English is a new SSU professional development opportunity being offered as a face to face workshop this year. The 5 hour workshop targets K-6 teachers interested in integrating physical activity into their classroom teaching of English. Teachers participate in a variety of practical teaching and learning activities which are easy to implement into their classroom practice. Advocacy of the program into their school setting contributes 8 hours of registered PD at a highly accomplished level.
The SSU provides relief costs for two teachers per DoE school to attend this workshop. Contained in the TPL flyer is a short video on the benefits to student learning outcomes of using this pedagogy as well as the scheduled workshop dates for 2019.
For further enquiries please contact the SSU TPL Team.
