There is no additional professional learning/accreditation required for activities where:
- Hockey skills are developed through modified activities and games
- typically participated in as a non-competitive school sport program
- modified equipment is used
- examples may include Minkey Hockey and Hockey 7's.

There is recommended professional learning and accreditation for activities that are:
- played competitively following the rules of the game. As part of either:
- an interschool event, or
- the Representative School Sport Pathway.
